the laptop and notebook region difference is blurred. but the difference should be in size and weight. The notebook should be lighter and smaller than a laptop. the laptop got it’s name since it op which was meant to be used on your lap during trips or work outside the office as opposed to a desktop which was supposed to sit on your desk.

lots of laptops now and your price point is really good since you would be able to buy a good brand.

for college work, and hopefully one to last you a good 3 to 4 yrs, get the latest processor from Intel a Core 2 Duo with decent 2GB or more of RAM. A 320GB HD and a battery life going to 6hours would be plus factors. The rest is a toss up on which brand and which other stuff you want for your laptop. Most come with WIFI, BLUETOOTH and other connectivity options anyways.

Used to be that IBM and TOSHIBA are good brands, but now you have DELL and HP and lost of other brands like SONY.

I would suggest a mac, but they start at $1000 (it’s worth it though) I suggest going to:

The difference between a laptop and a notebook is nothing. They are the same.
